About Mine EX-Plorers

Mine EX-Plorers is a mining-focused podcast and video series hosted by Stuart Burgess and Crystal Burgess, co-founders of Burgex Inc. Mining Consultants. What started as a shared passion for abandoned mine exploration has grown into a weekly conversation about the people, projects, history, technology, and real-world challenges that shape the mining industry.

The “EX” in Mine EX-Plorers carries a little bit of the show’s personality. Stuart and Crystal built Burgex together, were once married, and now continue to work together as business partners, co-hosts, and occasional on-camera sparring partners. The result is a show that blends professional mining insight with an unusually candid dynamic — part industry conversation, part field journal, and part ongoing story of building a company in a challenging but essential industry.

Each episode explores a different corner of the mining world. Some are filmed in the studio with Blue the Cat making an appearance. Others take viewers into abandoned mines, historic mining districts, active drill sites, conferences, quarries, and field projects. Topics range from critical minerals, exploration, drilling, aggregates, mining history, land work, permitting, and industry policy to business lessons, workforce challenges, and the future of resource development.

Mine EX-Plorers is built for people who care about mining — whether they are geologists, engineers, operators, investors, land professionals, students, suppliers, consultants, or simply curious about where the materials behind modern life actually come from. The goal is to make mining more understandable, more human, and more interesting by sharing practical conversations with the people who do the work.

Mining is often misunderstood, overlooked, or reduced to headlines. Mine EX-Plorers takes a different approach: honest conversations, real field experience, respect for mining history, and curiosity about where the industry is headed next. From old mine workings to modern critical mineral supply chains, the show explores mining from the ground up.
